Many ACT test-takers mistakenly assume that they will get a copy of their test questions and answer sheet when they get their score reports. Unfortunately, this is not the case; all you will get after you take your ACT is your ACT score report—unless you order the Test Information Release service.
What is the Test Information Release service?
The Test Information Release service, or TIR, allows you to receive a list of your answers, a list of the test questions in your ACT administration, a list of the correct answers, tables to convert your raw scores to the scores on your reports (all of which are jointly referred to as a list release) and, if you took the Writing Test, you will also receive a copy of the prompt, the scoring rubric, and the scores assigned to your essay by your two readers. For an additional fee (which is assessed on top of the fee for TIR), you can receive a copy of your actual answer sheet (and essay, if you took the Writing Test).
Is the Test Information Release service available for all ACTs?
The TIR is not available for every single ACT administration. It is only available on three test dates per year—the April, June, and December administrations—and only for students taking the test at a national test center in the United States.
Who can order the Test Information Release service?
Students who take any of the administrations for which TIR is available can order the service.
How much does the Test Information Release Service cost?
The basic TIR service (which includes a list of your answers, a copy of the test questions in your ACT administration, a list of the correct answers, tables to convert your raw scores to the scores on your reports and, if you took the Writing Test, a copy of the prompt, the scoring rubric, and the scores assigned to your essay by your two readers) is $18.00.
If you would like to also order a copy of your actual answer sheet and essay, instructions on how to do that, as well as information on the additional fee, will be included with your list release.
What if I don’t order the Test Information Release service when I sign up for my ACT?
You can order TIR for a particular ACT administration for up to three months after the test date (as long as you took the test, and it was one of the tests for which TIR is available).
If I order the Test Information Release service, when will I get my materials?
As per the ACT, “Materials are normally mailed about 4 weeks after you receive your score report. You cannot plan to receive them before the registration deadline or in time to study for the next test date. All orders received after score reports are first issued will be mailed 3–5 weeks after receipt at ACT.”
